  1. Limekiln dry dock at Stourport is £300 including a good jet wash. 20 litres of intertuf £110 enough to give a 70fter 3 good coats. Docking from Friday to Friday. I had 3 coats on by Sunday so enough time to cure before going back into the water on Friday. Gunwales worked out more as I had to strip the old sand off and replaced with anti slip tape. A cheap £10 hot air gun shifted the sanded parts easy enough though.
  2. How often do you need to change / repack the stern gland
  3. Can these anti slip tapes be painted over to match the paint colour
  4. Just wondered if anyone as used the self adhesive gunnel anti slip tape rather than sand. Is it any good, easy to put on and does it last ? Thanks
  5. I have just noticed that the volt meter is Pulsing, batteries are keeping good charge. Never noticed it before.
  6. I have used a tool called a scabbler to remove paint on the roof I don't know if this would be good for removing blacking or if it would clog up to much. It took about 6 hours of hard work to take it back to bare metal on a 70ft boat and then a needle gun to get in all the nooks and crannies
  7. Thank you for the share makes interesting reading
  8. And looking on the website it shows it as been used on a commercial boat which was done in may 2015 I would of thought that somebody must of used it by now privately on there boat over the last 18 months and be able to give an honest opinion to how it's holding out
  9. Not to sure what it would look like when put onto an hull with a few battle scars in the old bitumen especially with having to put it on so thin. At least with intertuf etc it goes on thick and you get a good finish on it. Still unsure a part of me says use it but who knows it could be the best thing since sliced bread or a red herring liking betamax and the big old 8 track tapes. I just don't know
  10. As anyone actually used this stuff, how long as it been about. Just a bit dubious when it's claimed it can be used on wet surfaces.
  11. I wasn't going to use 2 pack because of the cost involved. But with a few others out there it would be interesting to see which works well. Keelblack looks interesting and easy to work with. Is this the keelblack that is supplied by an Hereford based company
  12. It would be good to hear what other people have used and how they have fared with it
  13. I have recently stripped my roof to bare metal. I have applied owatrol on the bare steel and then one coat of primer before it goes into dry dock for me to finish it off. Would I be able to use owatrol to seal the edges of the primer or would this effect the next coat of primer going on.
  14. I know this topic as probably been covered on numerous occasions but what are people's thoughts on the different blacking out there. We are due to go into dry dock on the 16th September as diy, ers I was going to use intertuf would this be okay or are there better products out there not wishing to go down the two pack route
  15. What's the better orbital sander to get without costing an arm or a leg. Is it best to go for 125mm or the 150mm version
  16. Can anyone tell me if there is anyone close to market drayton or surrounding area that will sell 32amp to 16amp fly leads both in 110v and 240v. I know it's bank holiday but I thought I could get one on Tuesday Thanks
  17. Thanks for the input I was going to build a good secure box for the genny it comes with an additional add on length of tube to put on the exhaust/muffler to help disperse the fumes. But was unsure about the 32amp to 16amp drop. Does £500 sound reasonable? And are they reliable gennys
  18. Just reading the post as I am doing my roof next week. I hired a scabbler and needle gun for the job and picked it up yesterday ready for the job. It is a noisy and dusty machine but it removes the paint back to bare metal with ease. I can report back to how long it takes to do a 70ft roof if anyone is interested when I start. Is there any time length you can leave craftmaster primer before you need to put an undercoat and top coat on. As I only have three days off in a row there may be a delay between the painting. And when keying paint is it best to use wet and dry or just a dry sand paper. I was told to use 80 on bare metal after scrabbling then between paints use 240 and 600 and 1000 on final coat I think that what the figures were
  19. I have a mooring without electricity but there is a bit of ground with the mooring so I was going to install it in a sound proof box. Genny was up for £500 so my theory was I may as well run a £500 genny than the boat engine that would cost more to replace. The genny is fitted with 32amp sockets and I know you can get 32amp to 16amp fly leads would it do any damage to any equipment by using a reducer. The reason for a large genny is to help run the washing machine which peaks at 2200w
  20. Yes maxwelly it's for the boat. I went to test it out but it was fitted with 32 amp plugs and I had only got equipment with 16 amp plugs. So I need to get a reducer from somewhere.
  21. It's running okay straight from cold no probs. Taking a lead over tomorrow before I buy it to make sure it's kicking power out of the 240v
  22. Just wondered can anyo5help on this one please
