  1. Sorry for not relying sooner but my Internet connection hasnt been great. Thanks everyone for your responses, I will read them all again thourally after this update. My battery light has started flashing, the beeping is still their, I have checked for damaged cable but cannot find anything, batteries have been recently changed so should be like new.
  2. I suspect the start / stop sounder. Within the last hour a constant sound is coming from the instrument panel it sounds like a high pitched Morse code, I've checked for loose conections but can't find anything wrong. I have placed tape over the sounder to mufflel the sound, but what is causing it. Any ideas please.
  3. Hi, My rudder and tiller doesn't line through straight. Is this an easy job to correct, I have the boat on a hard standing until Thursday so would like to put it right before she goes back in the water.
  4. Does anybody know of a reputable marine electrician in or around the Lymm area.
  5. lol, yeah know exactly what you mean the loo stank of sage & onion stuffing, but apart from that loved the boat...
  6. Has anyone any ideas, where I may find a latch like the one below.
  7. Nice choice of colours, have a look at this.
  8. We got our sailaway from LMBS towards the end of last year and they were great no problems what so ever, Chris was very helpful and the lads working on the boats were friendly, We would definately recommend them.
  9. I'm sure everyone will be able to help me with this. Most boats i've seen have a pre-finished dimple effect, brown sheet materal for their engine room floors. Can anyone tell me what its called?
  10. As I poninted out in my original post 6mm cable doesn't fit the switches either. Do you have your pump switched, if so how? As for fitting a cable thats too large, I disagree. But then again I'd rather be over than under sized.
  11. Please explain why relays are nonsense and why 10 & 6mm cable is introducing problems?
  12. I’ve run a 10mm tri-rated cable 12v DC supply to a water pump but need a switch midway to turn it on or off, problem is the terminals on switches aren’t large enough. How have other people overcome this? The same problem will arise when I come to do the lighting switches (6mm)
  13. In laymans terms can someone explain, electricly what a shunt is and why it is used...
  14. We've had the same problem on two occasions when we've hired from them, never ready on time and waiting ages, does put you in a bad mood knowing its your time they're wasting. To rub salt into the wounds, it says in their documentation that if you're late back to base they will charge you.
  15. Can someone please reassure me that I have this correct, a 6mm2 cable will safely run 6 led lights. 12 volt supply 6 LED Lights 4 watt each light 50 mtr cable run (both ways) = 6mm cable
  16. I’ve just picked up a sample down lighter holder and led lamp, when I’ve put them together the void required would need to be 55mm. this seems a lot. Is there a shallower led alternative, the led I have is an MR16. Thanks
  17. I've ordered a pyramid shaped roof prism to add some additional light into the cabin below, until seeing a photo tonight of one fitted I was certain they fitted pointed bit down so when viewed from above the roof looks flat. The type I've see in the photo was a bullseye so may be different. Is there a correct way?
  18. You could maybe give FolkArt Enamels a go > link <, we got some from Hobbycraft a while back to try but never got around to it. Acrylic paint so not sure how weather resistant they are, unless you varnish as mentioned.
  19. What is the recommended lengths for mooring ropes on a 57 foot trad
  20. I have read all these threads with great interest and have started to lose the will to live. I’m unable to find anything on the internet that say you must use imperial pipe, can you even get imperial pipe any more. All bubble testers are in metric only and I would imagine mixing imperial and metric a definite no no, introducing adaptors will only lead to additional joints. If metric pipe is to BS EN 1057 how can it be incorrect to use. These are just my observations from all the above comments, I'am here to learn as are most of us.
  21. I will be painting my new primed shell in a few weeks and was wondering how many of you have used MC own brand paint and how did you find it. Cost wise it looks very tempting.
  22. Has anybody got any views on Piper Boats good and bad. We are in the process of buying a sailaway.
