  1. T-mobile internet dongle, and my Husqavana chainsaw, paid for itself many times over!!!
  2. Hi, Im looking for a 70' mooring near Tring, Berkhamsted, Hemel or Kings Langley, or around about that location, would help if its secure and none towpath side. I maybe working near to Welham Green longterm and need to find space for the boat. Many Thanks Kristian.
  3. Just as I went to bad last night, there was an almighty noise outside and I thought the cat from nextdoor had fallen in the cut between the boat the towpath, so leaping out of bed I opened the side hatch and pointed my torch outside and to my suprise there was an otter on the grass eating a fish, I feel very lucky to have seen this and was wondering if anyone else has seen otters anywhere else on the canal system? Kristian.
  4. Just been asked, Is it posiable to get the whole of "Water World" on DVD? Starting from the very first series to the current shows? If someone has recorded them all, I dont mind paying for the copies and blank discs! Kristian.
  5. Ive just noticed the name Keswick, is it a SM Hudson? Mine to is a jp3 land based engine, mine is solid mounted all the way and out though the roof! I dont think heat is going to be an issue these engine dont get very hot and by the time the gases reach the roof area there quit cool so dont worry to much. Hope this helps, Kristian
  6. Tom Keeling, adverts in ww. I was very impressed
  7. As above im trying to find her, she did much painting and writing for me over the last few years, last spoke with her last year, often seen in Bruanston marina. it would seem she's changed her mobile number. ta Kristian.
  8. Does anyone have any ideas on how to bring back round rope fenders to the former shop bought condition? I have thought about bleaching them? Any thoughts would be great. Kristian.
  9. Im in the dry dock over the weekend, well the boat is anyway!
  10. After getting nothing in the post from BW about renewing my Licence, I started calling them to inform them that ive had nothing in the post and at the end of May my boat will be unlicenced, what did I get? An automated message via the phone informing me that we are unable to deal with my phone call. So the question is what the heck do i do now? Ive sent them an e-mail asking to be called back but im not holding my breath! Is this common, first time Ive had any major isuues with BW. Kristian.
  11. Try getting a simple amp meter off ebay, Ive just found lots type in "DC amp meter".
  12. Unfortunately, I think your pissing in the wind thinking that a 60 watt solar panel will solve your electical problems, you've got to do that maths and that means spending money to save money. Divide 60 by 13 which is what a fully charged 12v battries volts will be, so you max amps output will only be 4.6amps MAX. Ive got two 130watt =260w (20 amps) panels and that lot cost over £1200, but during summer I wont use the charger until October or later. If you have an inverter its just like being on the mains! It pays to spent money when buying solar and its great if you get it right! Any question feel free to e-mail me, Kristian.
  13. I think in general a whistle will take a much greater volume of air than a diaphragm horn. Having said that, I'm on the lookout for a 24V compressor capable of running a whistle. An alternative might be a vehicle air conditioning compressor with electromagnetic clutch, but does anyone here know how they cope with use as a straight air compressor? Does the usual AC refrigerant have lubricating properties which would be missing from air, for instance? Your very right, a whistle needs alot of air, ie a volume using tanks of about 70 ltrs to store the air and let it go at once! A whistle wont work using just the compressor it wont have the volume needed.
  14. How about a steam whistle powered by compressed air?
  15. www.pulsingproducts.co.uk/page2.html A number of people inc me get pee'ed off with wet batteries not lasting very long, replacing x4 135 amp batts can be very expensive and thought for the sake of £50 this would be a wise investment. Any thoughts would be helpful, Thanks Kristian.
  16. www.splashwall.co.uk Its very good, I fitted this last year, cut to size and glue back, no more grout or tiles falling off etc and looks great! Sorry, please move to "tiling the bathroom".
  17. Hello all, I will be doing my own hull blacking later this year, have you lot got any recommendations about which type of 9-12" roller sleeves to use? Will it be the foam type or the furry emulsion type? And how long do they last when using hull blacking, just trying to work out how many I may need. Thanks Kristian.
  18. What was David Suchet saying on "waterworld" years ago, about a new law being passed that stopped road builders and developers from hindering the rebuilding of canals? What happened to that? and whats stopping that being used here?????????????????????????????????????????????? Kristian.
  19. Hey! I had the very same issue early in the year, it turns out that the replacement gasket is no longer sold on its own and comes with a new front houseing, over 30 notes in total. Have a look on e-bay and i got a "Buy it now" new pump for £50. Mine also was 10 years old, so no contest new pump!! Kristian.
  20. When you get the boat, try and keep him in as long as you can so he starts thinking the boat is "Home", if he's out and gets spooked/scared he should always return. Minimum id say 2-3wks if pos... Kristian. ps when you first let him off the boat don't feed him before hand and ensure he's hungry.
  21. Ive a Mikuni mx40 heater and i put Tesco AF in it due to it being very thin, dilutes easy and gets worked via the pump ok to, about £1.50p per litre great stuff. Put enough in until the water turns slighty blue and the rads still get hot, Never had a problem. Kristian.
  22. Have you cleaned out the two small holes in the GP boss? Use a small drill bit by hand and push out the carbon deposits. I soak the boss in petrol over night and clean inside the boss with a tooth brush, which softens the carbon. You can then type in Mikuni into the search engine on this web site and see how many other people have problems with mikuni's, inc me. And last of all try not to use it, failing that get it working and then put it on e-bay and get shut. Sorry but they really are rubbish, very unreliable and will cost you loads long term. Kristian.
  23. I had the same issue, wood stoves take far to long to warm up, so i got a diesel warm air blower from ebay. Type in "eberspacher d2". Im really happy with it. Blows out 3k of hot air, which is the same as a big fan hearter out a 5inch hole and if you use the ducting you can run it anywere. Kristian
