    Cabin lights

Sorry pic one, is the old fitting , which I have replaced with pic two, pic three shows the new shades, which replaces the shades in pic four. on one side of the cabin I still have the old set up as shown in pic 1 and 4. pic one the bulb has twin prongs that pull out of the fitting.

  4. Hi, I want to replace my cabin lights, but I am confused as I have no idea what I am doing. I tried replacing this light.pic 1 with this light..pic 2 however..pic 3 shows them fitted, but won’t work, am I getting 12v mixed up with 240v lights, even though in pic one it says there 230v. sorry for probably being stupid, but I’m no good at electrics, or most other things technical. thanks. They are to replace these on other side of wall, still working..
  5. Was that you passing Kilby bridge, the water levels have been down with helpful CRT staff restoring the levels, hope you have a pleasant journey, we’re following you but taking 6 months to do same trip. You missed out on a meal at the navigation.. we went tonight, two pints, a large glass of Peno Grigio, two fish and chips, lemon meringue with ice cream, £46. Nice staff. I love boating . Ps, the food was fantastic.
  6. I got one of these last year as I was getting down draughty through the squirrel door in high winds. This fixed it and increases the draw. Solved the problem.
  7. Thank you black rose have done as you advised.
  8. The Castro oil is API GL_4 , which I ordered, are you saying I should discard and look for GL_5 ?
  9. So this stuff will be ok. ?
  10. Hi, I need to change my vetus bowthruster oil, which manual states should be EP90 , do I have to order Vetus oil or will any EP90 oil do?
  11. Have a look at latelink.com they show hire bases throughout the country, it will give you an idea of all the bases to choose from.
  12. Coat it with carnauba wax and rub it in, worked for me on wood.

  14. Thank you for replies, I know now where to look, or at least get someone else where to look. If it’s starter battery then fine, it’s an aqualine, nothing has been modified apart from getting solar panels in. As I said the domestics are fine and starter battery fired engine first thing this morning. I was out in the country , no roads anywhere near. So have got near civilisation now and will go into a marina tomorrow and get them to look at it. Thanks again to every one.
  15. Just checked, engine hasn’t run for five hours, not hooked up by the way The bmv does not wire into the starter battery, but my internal monitor is showing it at 12.8, thanks for looking but your last paragraph goes over my head. But what people are saying is that light being on relates to the starter battery[unless a wiring fault]?
  16. That’s when engine is running. two alternators, have never seen the light come on before.i think they are 120 amp domestic and 90 amp start alternators, but will check and photo tomorrow. The light stays on throughout a cruise. Yes that light is on. The meter reading is always about there, also the oil pressure reading has been like that over ten years. I trust the victron battery meter which shows leisure’s are charged appropriately. Starter battery has worked fine last two days, only noticed light last night when running for charge. Both showing 12.8v on internal engine battery monitor.
  17. Could anyone tell me what the red light coming on in the control panel means? It’s on the battery monitor control panel. My battery monitor Bmv tells me everything is charging fine, ie leisure batteries. Never noticed the red light come on before, what would it usually signify ? Upside down for some reason, but you get the picture. Never lit up b4.
  18. Just a note, there is a grp travelling to Fradley junction, will be there or past there by now, has a load of crap on top, they are steering by looking out of the side cockpit. Two young men, leaving lock doors open, and a paddle up. Lost a load of water at Alrewas pound, which I have refilled after being grounded. Will probably cause more havoc as they continue, boat is listing to one side. Apparently they have an adjustible spanner to work the paddles. Be aware.
  19. Have seen lots of heavy vehicles travel down the towpath by there, I wonder if that is part of the causal problem.
  20. Could stop boats planning on going to Liverpool for some time.
  21. I’ve got three, given to me at some time, I use them as a trivet on top of my stove in the winter.
  22. Just a reminder to anyone coming this way at the weekend, it’s a festival of travel, so , on Sunday there is a trip up and down of all the boats. If wanting to moor you will not got very close to the centre.
  23. Getting busy at Lymm for there transport weekend. Sunday is official day.
  24. Thanks, every couple of weeks, surprises me, never had a problem before in nine years, but thanks will look at it, MTB said much the same so will look at it., so what is a normal level on your boat, is it 0. Looking on net below 30 says ok , but obviously not if getting headaches.
  25. Thanks, but have done that, and swept chimney twice. Thanks, that throat plate is already removed.
