  1. Many thanks Nick. Would appreciate any help you could give. My phone number is 07976986960. I have to see to getting day boat out first thing but should be free after 10am if that fits in with your plans. Many thanks Tony
  2. Thanks for all your suggestions. I have reached the end of my limited ability and knowledge so I think I shall have to get an electrician to come and check it out or as suggested go to Springwood Haven. That's going to cause a work problem Tony
  3. Update. We have tried a known good shoreline and has made no difference. We have mains power into the inverter but no mains power out. Any suggestions? The Victron agent suggested sending unit back to Holland but as we are liveaboards , this is a bit of a problem. Thanks Tony
  4. We accidentally had both the tumble dryer and washing machine running at the same time for a short period. We are on a shoreline with 16amp supply. The Victron has shore support. We turned the machines off when we noticed the overload warning light flashing on the Victron. Now the Victron still works in inverter function but no battery charger. The 16amp overload button did not come out but I pressed it anyway with no effect. Has anyone any ideas what the problem could be? Many thanks Tony
  5. We don't mind you being nosy . JR2 was built when we had our son living with us and the boatmans cabin was ideal for him. Also I wanted a vintage Gardner. However, a 71' 6" Hudson boat weighing in at over 26 tonnes before fuel and possessions were on board proved too much for Jenny to handle and she said she needed 4 hands to steer, control the throttle, change gear and work the bow thruster (yes, one was fitted!) Also son left home a few years ago and we no longer need all that space. We therefore decided to sell and downsize.and Elouise fitted the bill admirably. Tony
  6. We are new owners of Elouise. Took delivery at the start of the month and are thrilled to bits with it. It really has the perfect specification for us and all within 60'. Rest assured that Elouise will be well cared for. We also endorse Mike's experience of Boatfinder Brokerage. They gave a professional and friendly service and kept us informed all through the process. Tony and Jenny.
  7. We were informed it was CDL but have just googled CDA and you are correct so thanks very much. Tony
  8. Has anyone any experience of CDL washer dryers? Cannot find any information about them by googling. I'm sure these have been discussed in the past but have drawn a blank using the search facility. Thanks Tony
  9. So, to try and clarify my personal position. I commissioned Steve Hudson to build a fully fitted boat so in 2006 and took delivery in 2007. I received an owners manual along with full RCD documentation and HIN. I have a HIN plate with the number stamped on but as yet it has not been fixed to the hull. As I stated before I have been unable to find the HIN anywhere stamped on the hull in all the places suggested by forum members etc. We have been advised that the boat is therefore technically illegal. Will it be legal if I just get the number stamped on the hull by myself or a third party because as you all probably know the builder has passed away? What are the alternatives if any? I have tried googling this but cannot find an answer that covers my position. Thanks Tony
  10. Thanks everyone for your help. Looks like I will have to get it stamped somewhere in the engine room (as this is the easiest place to access). Tony
  11. Can you tell me where I can find this information online to forward to my buyer please? Thanks Tony
  12. We have a builders plaque and an owners manual plus RCD. It does not say in the manual where the HIN is on the hull. And obviously we can't get the information from the builder . We have looked in the all the places people have mentioned but have not found it.
  13. Don't know to be honest, but ours was a fully fitted boat not a sailaway.
  14. Broker says it is a legal requirement! Tony
  15. Thanks for the quick reply.I have looked there but the hull is completely spray foamed so unable to see the metal. Cheers Tony
  16. Does anyone know where the HIN number is likely to be located on a Steve Hudson hull? (2007 boat with trad engine and back cabin-don't know if this makes a difference). A potential buyer won't proceed unless we can show him where it is? Many thanks Tony
  17. Thanks for the info. Much appreciated. Tony
  18. While out on the boat this summer we want to include a trip to the Harry Potter studios at Leavesden . Can anyone suggest a suitable visitor or marina mooring please? Thanks Tony
  19. I knew you would come back from the dark side............... eventually
  20. Thanks for the info. Job to do when I can let the fire go out for a while! Tony
  21. The lower section of the firebasket retainer has broken on one side of my Squirrel. I have tried fixing it with car exhaust pipe cement but with limited success. How did you repair yours? (Putting another interlocking above it makes it relatively secure but more awkward to load up with fuel). Thanks Tony
  22. Try this company. http://vintagebearings.co.uk/vintage-classic-oil/2528971 No association other than a satisfied customer. Tony
  23. A very sad loss indeed. Will be sorely missed. Tony and Jenny.
  24. Thanks everyone for your responses. Looks like it's a go then! Tony
