  7. So where did all this water come from then? I was down on Saturday checking the boats and it was 18" below the path and falling. We didn't have that much rain after that and it rose very suddenly. Did the Trent overtop at Torksey into the Fossdyke, or did it run in from another source?
  8. There are quite a few cruisers round my way that have spent the summer at home on their trailers instead of afloat. Once upon a time these may have been sold, but prices are so low at the moment many owners will just park them and hope for better times!
  9. I had a paddle at the other end of the moorings. We're all right down there at the moment. EA indicates that levels were falling ( slightly ) this afternoon. Pics here http://myweb.tiscali.co.uk/neefarm/bardneyindex.html Dick (That wasn't you I spoke to up on the railway bridge as I was leaving was it Bazza? )
  10. Just been for a wade down the moorings. All boats floating safely at the moment. I'll post some pics when I've had a cuppa!

  12. Checked the boats yesterday and it was still well below the path and falling. It's come up again quick! EA river level for 6.00pm today indicates lower than yesterday!! I'd better check again tomorrow! Now where's my chest waders?
  13. Should be alright - until someone says " V1...rotate" as they approach a lock!

    coal

We've just ( 6th September ) filled our coal bunker at home. While he was writing out the bill, the coal man informed me that prices would be going up next week. Heating oil prices My link continue to rise...the speculators are back in the market!
  21. They'd rather let the mooring stand idle and unused than let someone have a bargain I'm afraid. I think I'd be tempted to drop the reserve if I were them, but make it for one year only instead of the usual three. How they can say it would be uneconomic to let it at below the reserve price I don't know. Getting something for it would be better than nothing surely?

  23. When I was moored at Boston marina, next to the Grand Sluice, I could get through a magnesium anode a season. Now I'm further upriver the erosion is much much less. Mind you, I haven't got the landline plugged in all the time either these days!
  24. I had a DAB set.......and it ATE batteries! Threw it in the bin. Probably one of the worse things I ever bought.
