That is the worst case senerio, best one being, plumbing it into the existing system and it works on a thermo syphon principal. If not maybe a solar powered pump. It has too meet the needs for the bulk of the summer months I would of thought. Regards Peter

Just found this, hope the link works, looks like the perfect device for heating water on the boat? Your thoughts? Peter Sorry trying to correct the fact I forgot the link! http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/swimming-pool-solar-..._Pools_Hot_Tubs

I'm looking to point out that the fact he thinks he can retain the goods (given they belong to us) and apparently has no intention of giving a refund, amounts to theft! Either that or the small claims court? Either way, I'm sure it we put our two cases together, it will give it a little more weight. Regards Peter

Hi Bear, Any luck trying to get a refund? I'm still trying to recover mine, it seems quite obvoius he is quite happy to hang onto it as well as the goods. Hope you have had better luck your end? Regards thenightowl

Gibbo, When I've been near a supermarket overnight, I go in and place items that I need like water and milk and bury them deep in the freezer. Then return the next day and purchase them, always good to see the confused look at the checkout when they see frozen water/milk. Keeps the coolbag cold for 24 hours. Peter

Hi Bear, Likewise, 3 weeks, false promises and still no sign of the money. Started with the promise of a full refund, once he had the goods, then a 15% restocking fee was implemented, plus postage costs. Regards

Hi Bear, Just trying to highlight this topic, in the hope of warning others given the problems we have both had, would be pleased to hear if anyone has had any dealings with this company and actually got a good word?

Hi Wendy, 64/64th's means you own the whole boat! (Or at least that was how it was explained to me). Apparently this is just the convention used in boating. I would imagine the 1/64th is wrong? Regards Peter

I went for the B/W option for that reason, should aid vision both on TV and underwater, point taken re the I/R will see how it works with this setup? Peter Robin, That is what I thought and still do now its arrived, it is a bit heavy, but that should stop it going over the side? Just needs to be tested. It is certainly portable, together with the waterproof aspect would allow for it to go to the bow, should this be needed. The large silver object on the bottom, just seems to be a weight, so could take a pole instead. Peter

It's just arrived, been looking at this on Maplin for a while. Self contained unit with 20m of cable. The unit has a 5 1/2 b/w camera, sits in a cover/sun shade. In the base is a rechargeable battery (12v dc, or 240 adapter), apparently 4 hrs use on a charge. Camera has night vision up to 7m. Quite a bulky unit, but comes with a carry case. Thought it would help given my access through weed hatch is a pain in the backside, so the prop does not get checked! Anyone interested Maplin Underwater CCTV Surveilance System Code N77FX. Cost £60 reduced by £5 if you use the money off vouchers. If I find my Rain-hat from the bottom of the Marina, that will be another £20 saved! Hope this is of interest to other like minded people. Regards Peter

I bought one and sold it. Had the image been the same as you see on the internet (as they would have you believe) it would have been OK. They use compression software, so you end up with something less attractive, that did not work for me. Very fiddly to use, very good in principle. Maybe Mk 3 will be better. Maplin have them on display in some stores, so best have a look. Peter

Maplin Portable "Suitcase" Satellite TV Receiver on Offer.

I bought on from Aldi the other week, £65. Basically the same set up as all the rest. Two things that were an improvement for me. Firstly comes with soft case (given the plastic one is very bulky). Secondly the base had a very large surface area, with no wind would be self supporting, attach magnetsto cope with wind, it hinged to allow various types fitting. POST/WALL even showed attached to a side of nb! Peter -
Thanks for that Alan, Sounds like I may have to revert to 'Plan A', and get a Shotgun! Peter

I think I will have to explore this and report back, I believed it was a vertical drop and the filler neck would hold it upright. Will report back if it works? Peter
-
The idea was for it to touch the bottom of the tank, as it is intended to double up as a dipstick. The intention is for it to sit a few inches down and not to be obvious, extraction with string and magnet. Peter Ian, I was assuming that the filler is a vertical drop, the pipe is intended to reach the bottom and act as a dipstick. Peter
-
Ian, Not sure how to do a sketch on here, imagine clock face, bolt from 9-3 and 12-6. Which is intended to stop a pipe passing. The pipe would also need to be drilled at base to allow diesel to pass. Hope this helps. Peter

Trying to come up with a solution to the problem........................... If you take a section of waste pipe (plumbing), drill four holes at 90 deg to each other, to allow for two bolts to be fitted. This will stop a syphon being inserted into tank. If black pipe is used, you can then take a piece of string with magnet attached, then drop this down the filler, using the bolts, extact the pipe and you have the added bonus of a dip-stick for the fuel! You thoughts please? DUCK! Regards Peter

Dear All, Just wondering, is it a problem, do narrowboats react in the same way as cars? Regards. Peter

Paul Where are you having it done? Regards. Peter

Tim, I ask an innocent question, intended to keep on the correct side of the law next thing I know, is the Gallows are being erected! Seems to me, if I sue, I'll be able to afford coal! Cheers :-) I'm near Hemel Hempstead on the GU, does that put me far enough away from the crime? Peter

Many thanks! Peter
