I have a lot of wood on my boat, all the windows (12) wheelhouse, back doors, two pigeon boxes, mast etc. I use Sikkens wood stain, the stuff that gets used on conservatorys and suchlike, it is not as beautiful as varnish and all the variations as it goes matt and dull but it is very practical.
