Radiators heat exchanger

Featured Posts

When travelling I use my slightly smaller Kubota engine ( about 27 HP otherwise the same as Beta 38 ) to directly heat my radiators ( 5 in a 40 ft boat) using just the engine pump with a 1/2 solar 12 volt motorized valve to switch off heating when not required. This is feed from the engine auxiliary take off point.

I have a reasonable size expansion tank to cope with the extra volume.

The heating normally runs about 65/70 degrees as the take of is before the thermostat, so the skin tank has little or no flow.

Heating when stationary comes from the Mikuni feeding into the same circuit again through a motorized valve.

The same is possible with manual valves, but I have gone for this layout so that I can also use a thermostat/timer in the main cabin to regulate/ call for heating.
