Roger Crown
Hi all I've no experience of epoxy hull coatings. I understand that grit blasting the hull prior to 1st application is a must. I can see first hand (boat out on hard standing 1st time in 5 years) the benefits of the coating system. My question is, what is the procedure to prepare and re-coat the hull to give the same protection for the next cycle. Does new epoxy stick to old? etc Thanks Roger

Neil Smith
All the above but I gave mine a third coat just above and below the water line as I had some left over. Neil
nicknorman
Yes it just says to clean and roughen the surface prior to re-applying.
Guest
May I just ask if two pack epoxy is rollered on, like bitumen? also is it readily available to the public? Cheers.
bargemast
The two-pack epoxy can be rollered on, and if more deluted can be sprayed on. On my boats I always use the rollers, go's pretty well, as long as you don't mix too much in one go, as it will start drying before you used it all. Peter. Depends on the 2 pack. I recently looked up the application specifications of one brand (can't remember the name) - and it said that roller application was fine. In some ways roller is preferable as the blacking has to be thinned for spray application requiring more coats to build up the same thickness. Best to check the specifications or phone up the makers. 2 pack is available to the general public
