Liverpool link moorings

Featured Posts

Going into Liverpool link shortly but hoping to moor up before entry to dock. Can't get any information from c&rt about eldonian moorings but have suggested I stay at litherlands visitor moorings. Has anyone had any experience of this.

We went into Liverpool last Wednesday, intending to moor at Eldonian overnight. The advice from the CRT guys was that, as we were a single boat travelling alone, Eldonian was not a good idea, so moor at Litherland. We took their advice. Litherland is fine, you are in a locked CRT compound, Tescos next door, chippie and pubs down the road.

On the way to the locks by Stanley Warehouse I took a look at the basin at Eldonian. It is pretty isolated, and the first thing you see is a "shrine" in memory of the lad that was shot last November. In the company of a few other boats, it would have been OK. But solo, I don't think its a good idea, and neither do CRT.

We have also stopped at Litherland, all as described. There is a pump out, water and rubbish disposal there. It is surprisingly quiet. Good transport links into city, if you are there for some days. The first time we did the link, we were told to moor overnight at Eldonian Village. We were the only boat there, and all was fine, but did make us a bit nervous. Enjoy the link!

Did you have to book your passage through the link with Crt? Or do you just turn up at a set time and day ? Are you staying in Liverpool then going back or crossing the Mersey back to the ship canal? . Thanks Bunny
