SSYN closed at Doncaster

Hi all,

 

As the title says its closed at Doncaster town lock. There was a fire in 2 factories last week near the canal so booms have been placed in the water to prevent pollution spreading. Crt have been not very helpful with when its going to be sorted although it will be open tomorrow to allow a backlog of boats through. I have been phoning to gee them up because a bunch of us are going on holiday in our boats on saturday but at the moment its not looking likely that it will reopen for then. So if you are heading through phone first to find out if you can

Had a phone call this morning from CRT as promised one gate open today at Doncaster lock to clear backlog then open as normal saturday/sunday fingers crossed. Leeds office seems on the ball

Things must be looking up, we could often travel that section and never see another moving boat.

Tinsley and Icles have been out for their summer holidays plus the flight has been busy as well. I have seen quite a few members going up and down which is all good. To be honest though it was their words not mine

But regardless good to hear.

 

Doncaster town lock was a favourite of mine huge and under the rails of the station gave it a bit of a foreboding feel. Emerging behind the prison it was quite surreal as to how peaceful it was.
