Hello all,

About 18 months ago my book about living aboard came out. (http://www.amazon.co.uk/Liveaboard-Guide-Living-Afloat-Waterways/dp/1408145553) I'm pleased to say it is doing rather well.

I'm most of the way through writing my next book and could use some help.

I'm looking to include a short section on solar and wind power aboard. I'd like to include the pros and cons, so if you've had an interesting experience then I'd like to hear from you? Does yours work well or work badly? Have you any tips on how to go about getting the best from your solar or wind power?

I'll be sure to send you a copy of the book when it comes out - which should be in a few months' time.

Thanks in advance

Tony

I use solar power to heat my boat at this time of the year. Being chilly enough in the morning to warrant some heating, but warm enough during the day to not want your stove on yet, & with the fact that my gas central heating is currently out of action, what I do is open the curtains on the sun side of the boat & it warms it up a treat.
Now you may think I'm being facetious, but that is 1 definition of solar power.
I'm guessing you really meant solar generated electricity.

Hi Tony I purchased your book two years ago before I bought my NB. I found it very useful in all the decisions I made before buying my boat. I fitted two 4amp solar panels and believe it to be the best investment I have made. I only have to leisure batteries and mainly use it for lighting, TV and charging phones etc. Never had a problem in any weather even when it is grey and cloudy I still get a charge of around 2 amps.
