Draining Heating System - Webasto etc

On Zodiak the largish (30mm?) hose from the low point on the skin tank rises up from bilge floor level to connect with the engine fairly near the top. I detached the top end from the engine block and then raised it up above the top of the engine to stop any coolant flowing out.

I then inserted a Pela pump suction tube into the hose to reach the bottom of skin tank level and pumped out that way. After that also took out the engine block drain plug to drain any trapped in the block.

About 26 litres in all.

I am about to renew the coolant in my central heating system as its now 6 years old and possibly lost its anti- corrosion properties

Advice/tips/hints on how to remove the coolant as all tye pipework is at low level

Thanks in advance

Ray

Just a suggestion - - when you have managed to drain your system - - it may be useful to fit a drain valve at the lowest point for the next time!
