I'm past the survey stage and am now haggling over the price.

 

Is there a log book to sign over or what do I need to do to take ownership of the boat when the time comes?

The transfer is done through a MCA bill of sale. See link below for example

And ask for the boat's manual & collection of receipts/licences/survey reports etc - - ideally there should also be within that collection proof that your boat's seller bought it!

If it's a private sale you can do whatever you like, but have some form of written agreement to prove you now own the boat.

 

You do need to notify CRT but here's the thing - they won't change the ownership details until the boat is re-licenced. Unless, that is, someone has taken note of my complaint about this...
