  1. My waterways licence expires at the end of this month and with it the previous owners insurance. Does anyone have any recommendations? Cheers!
  2. Sorry I haven't replied for a while but it appears my cat is older than I thought at 13. An expensive trip to the vet has noted stage two kidney disease and liver problems.
  3. I'm not getting rid of my cats or my boat.
  4. I had my cats neutered early on to avoid trouble. The back door is always open so they can come and go as they please. I have a residential mooring so Im going to try and encourage them to go outside and do their business like they used to. I hope it's not medical.
  5. I've lived onboard for five weeks now and my cats four. Now it appears one of my three cats has started peeing around the boat. All three know where the litter tray is and have used it. The litter tray is accessible 24/7. Any advice please?
  6. First he refused to come down by £500 and paid £1500 in mooring fees before I lost patience. Then he accuses me of not being serious about buying the boat and when we agree on a price he wanted to suddenly rush and any hint of delay was met with a threat to pull out of the sale. Its done now so I can start getting her habitable.
  7. 1973 50ft Lister engine. Seller keeps throwing tantrums. I can only hope so get this sorted on Friday.
  8. I'm buying my first narrowboat on Monday! I feel so excited!
  9. Daft question but has anyone tried keeping a marine aquarium on board a narrowboat?
  10. The trouble with having Asperger's is negotiating. I'm trying to buy a boat in Watford and the seller dismissed most of the survey. I'm still hoping to come to an agreement over the price but it may take time.
  11. I just need to be fairly close to a tube station. Thanks for all the replies so far!
  12. I'm looking for a liveaboard mooring in the London area, are there any places with spaces? Thanks! Steve.
  13. I'm past the survey stage and am now haggling over the price. Is there a log book to sign over or what do I need to do to take ownership of the boat when the time comes? Thanks!
  14. Could this be a free winter coat on legs?
  15. Do you have a contact for him please?
  16. I'm looking at buying a boat that needs a new pumpout system, electrics (12 and 240v) along with a new shower tiling. Can anyone recommend a boatyard that can do the work well and not rip me off? Thanks! Steve.
  17. If I buy the one I've had surveyed I am toying with renaming her The Rust Bucket!
  18. I'm buying it from a work colleague and I intend to be there when its surveyed if I can get the time off work.
  19. I'm looking at buying a boat that needs a paint job but I've been quoted £4,250 for a 50 ft boat (nearly had a heart attack!) can anyone recommend someone who can do it for a more reasonable price?
  20. Just had to re-arranged the survey so now its happening on the 9th and being done by John Tough (any feedback on his work would be appreciated!). Thanks for the replies! I just want to get on the boat and start putting my stamp on it! :-)
  21. Its 01.15 and having just got home from work I feel the need to express this somewhere and friends and family are likely to be sound asleep. I have booked a survey on a boat but it still feels near and far from owning the vessal. It comes with a residential mooring and I have permission to bring two of my three cats (will need to plead the case of third moggie :-( I still need to declutter before I start packing (after I hear the survey results) then move and adjust to my new life. Does this sound familiar or am I babbling?
  22. Thanks! Do you guys have a contact number for him?
