We broke down!!!

After a fab start and spending 6 days moored in market Drayton we had 3 days off work to travel to the marina... All started off well 9 hours of cruising the first day, second day we were out for 5 hours and very nasty burning smell, lots of smoke and after switching off the engine we then had nothing!!! Thankfully a very lovely couple towed us to the next lock and we then had an equally lovely engineer come and help us out and he is currently awaiting a new starter motor.... So aside from having no multifuel burner (smoking way too much) needing to tighten the stern gland (after bailing out a LOT of water) the water heater needing looking at..... We are still feeling positive!! These things are sent to try us eh!!!

Once you sort out the initial (minor) snags you will be fine, enjoy.

If your multifuel burner is 'smoking way too much', It may be that a good shimney & flue clean would improve the situation - if it's already clean, then I'd suggest using a good smokeless fuel (Taybrite, Supertherm or Excel are regularly used by boaters)
