  1. I sometimes feel the boat is out to get me, I have never had so many unidentified scratches/bruises/bumps until I moved aboard... Only been 6 months though so hopefully get better (no it's not alcohol intake related before u ask!!)
  2. Hi there, I'm currently at Aston marina but moving on in a few weeks... We're new to boating so can let u know what we wish we'd done/glad we did type scenarios!!! PM me Claire
  3. As we are due to move aboard in the next few weeks i've set up'boatmail' and our local GP surgery were really understanding and helpful... Next to tackle the car insurance... Doubt this will be so straight forward....!!
  4. Junior.... This sounds very familiar! Think I might have a 'realistic' list and a wish list on the go... Just in case I come into money hahaha
  5. My real problem is that everything WAS working when we bought the boat... Then everything took it in turn to break... Starter motor, electrics needed overhauling (now have inverter) then eberspacher now water heater... Eberspacher can bloody wait to be fixed (if ever) BUT I still love it!!! It's all a learning curve and thankfully the marina has very nice amenities whilst we get the jobs done, anyway.... Where's that list...
  6. Tis much nicer knowing you are not alone... We've started laughing about the list though I'm unsure if it is slight hysteria? Dean... Comfortable is fine with me.. Just a bit of heat/hot water and I'll be happy!!! Oh ok it'd be nice if the boat moves too...
  7. I guess I read this forum with slightly rose tinted specs... Surely we'll get to the end of our 'to do' list at some time?? Surely everything on the boat will work, even just for a day?? Alas it is not to be, but I have to say that we move aboard in two weeks time and I'm still excited. Today it is the rinnai water heater that has been condemned to the water heater heaven... Or hell? Add it to the list.....
  8. When we were moored out on the canal my little springer was really stable but since we've brought her into a marina where we are attached to pontoon she's moving about much more! I'm still getting used to wobbling when I'm on land now!
  9. Well once again huge thanks.. Hubby is now ripping out cupboards and bed will fit in cabin.. Space above engine will now be a huge hanging space for clothes (going to box it all in) and we'll have plenty of space to get to the engine too... For our first boat which we only intend to keep for a few years this seems like the easier option and less costly!! Onwards and upwards...
  10. Oh dear looks like a complete re- think is on the cards!! Now where could we fit a bed....
  11. It may well be Junior... As you enter from the stern there is a boatmans cabin (think thats what u call it) this is where i was standing to take the photo....then what may have been an engine room where they have built part of the bed over the engine (the rest goes over the walkway). Recommended by surveyor to raise the bed for more ventilation so we decided to try and make a fixed double while we were at it!!
  12. Thanks for your help everyone... And it seemed so straight forward....
