Great night in the pub. Good beer, good food & good banter.

23:30pm - The 8 of us return to the boat. Port, Stilton & Black Pudding rations broken out.

1:00am - Time to retire... 8 people vying for use of the two toilets...

1:05am - Find my bunk - eventually.. someone has left their bag on it..

1:10am - bang head bending over to untie shoelaces..

1:15am - bang head again standing up..

1:20am - finally in bed

1:25am - Sound asleep ! Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

2:30am - Awake ! Stan in the next bunk is snoring for England

3:00am - Stan* stops snoring - Alan* in the bunk above starts snoring...

3:30am - Considering the novel use of a windlass as a blunt instrument.

3:45am - Alan stops snoring, drift off to sleep again...

4:30am - Awake ! I need the toilet as I couldn't get to one before bed

4:40am - back in bed - Now Dave* is snoring

5:00am - light outside - bl**dy birds singing and both Dave and Stan are snoring

5:45am - drift off to sleep again

6:15am - sound of an engine in the distance... getting louder.. boat passes, we bump against the piling

6:20am - Alan starts snoring and Stan gets up for the toilet.

6:30am - Stan back, Alan stops snoring and Pete M* Starts snoring

6:31am - Decide to find a Boots and buy some earplugs... drift off to sleep again...

8:00am - Middle of a dream when Alan stands on my hand getting down from his bunk.

8:01am - Stan and Dave pass fully dressed en route to getting under way

8:10am - Engine checked, started and we're off - and it's my turn to cook breakfast for 8.

to be repeated on 7 consecutive nights !

And to think, when we go again in two weeks time, it will be our 22nd annual trip.

* names not changed in order to inflict maximum embarassment !
