Babyjune
Hello all I would really like to take my boat along the oxford canal this summer, have been trying to work out a route and timeframe, just wondered if anyone knows, do you have to use the Thames and do you have to use the bit that needs a radio and anchor, or is there a more gentle route. Many thanks for reading my post.
Tim Lewis
Hello all I would really like to take my boat along the oxford canal this summer, have been trying to work out a route and timeframe, just wondered if anyone knows, do you have to use the Thames and do you have to use the bit that needs a radio and anchor, or is there a more gentle route. Many thanks for reading my post. You can certainly avoid the Thames completely by going via the Grand Union to Braunston then going straight for the Northern Oxford or left for the Southern. For the direct route to Oxford via the Thames you can avoid the requirement for VHF radio by going out onto the Tidal Thames at Brentford but I would not recommend doing it without an anchor. Babyjune
Hi TIm thank you very much, I really don't want to go along the Thames we are still pretty inexperienced boaters and the Thames seems like a big fast river for my little boat lol
