Torksey Flood Gate

Monday 17 December 2012 until further notice

Due to the Fossdyke navigation going into flood, we have had to close Torksey Flood Gates.

Boaters are asked not to travel along the navigation until further notice.

We apologise for any inconvenience which may be caused.

Enquiries: Newark - 01636 704481

Just received this. We were out on the ditch yesterday and it wasn't flooded so must have risen quickly!

Need it to fall again by the weekend or Christmas cruise might be off!

I don't understand this one. Why would you have to close the Torksey flood gates because of the Fossdyke going into flood?

I can understand having to close them to prevent the Fossdyke from going into flood when, the Trent is too high (as they did recently) but this one seems to me to be the wrong way round.

Or am I missing something?
