Not sure what attempt you are relating to but i was there sunday 4th November early afternoon and no boater put a stop to the rescue

 

What can I say, I spoke to said boater and heard his story. Which I had also heard from another boater moored downstream of the lock. I have no reason to doubt either of them, and RCR's story matches up with theirs. I have no interest either way.

Consider yourself shot down in flames.

The rescue attempt affected other boats and other people which caused delays. Not to mention the acres of countryside that had to be protected from flooding.

 

Would shutting the sluices for an hour really have flooded the locality? Assuming that it would only have taken an hour to release the boat and pull it round.
