Black Prince blue/yellows

Hi everyone

I'm new to this forum but was interested in pictures/information of the blue and yellow boats that Black Prince launched with and ran in the 1970's & 80's, plus the bases that they had.

Does anyone on here remember them or have any pictures they could share?

Thanks

Dan

Hi Dan,

My ex and myself hired the old livery Black Prince boats a couple of times in the 80s.

We started off from Stoke Prior and this was the only time we have been hung up by the front fender going down a lock. At the time, we were being given instruction from B.P. on lock work which we had done before and the fella at the other lock paddle from me falied to see the boat was hung up. Near miss avoided.

The boats were all named after aircraft e.g. Spitfire, Wellington, Lancaster etc.

Dan asked about the 'blues and yellows'

You can see pictures of three of them at

<http://website.lineone.net/~familykeens/hiring.htm> as we also used to hire from them in the 70s and 80s.

The bases we used were Lower Heyford, Acton Bridge and Blisworth. Only one of those has survived as a BP base but you can still make out the logo on the canopy at Oxfordshire narrowboats.

Regards

Hi everyone

Thanks for the replies so far

Nice to catch up again Graham - I emailed you a picture of Powys taken at Stoke on Trent marina when on hire a few years ago.

For four years I owned ex Bomber class 47ft 5 berth "Canberra" which really was a cracking boat and I miss her very much!

Details of my time with her can be found at my website www.danielhorner.com

I would love to get more pictures of the boats or bases in those blue & yellow colours, hope someone may have some

All the best

Dan
