Firstbuy Scheme

Hi All, I came across this forum the other day and have really enjoyed reading all the different topics.

 

I don’t yet own an narrowboat yet but I hope to very soon, I lived on my brothers boat for 6 months he wanted me to give it ago before buying my own just encase it wasn’t for me. Well I loved it and want my very own even more now :-)

 

My question is does anyone know if the new home buy scheme (FirstBuy) that was set up by the government can be used to purchase a narrowboat, I fully expect the answer to be an overwhelming no but interested to know anyway and if the answer is no I wonder why it couldn’t.

As far as I'm aware, it is only available via certain new house builders, and none of them build canal boats.
