Newark Town Lock Thursday 29 March 2012 - Friday 30 March 2012

Our maintenance team will be doing repair work to the paddles at Newark Town Lock.

Between 8:00am and 15:30pm, the use of the lock will be restricted and boaters can expect slight delays. There will be workmen and lock keepers on site to advise and assist boaters through the lock.

Out of these hours, boaters will be able to use the lock without restriction. We apologise for any inconvenience which may be caused. Boaters are asked to approach the site with care and to listen to the advice given on site.

Enquiries: Julian Rasen – 07766992952

Just walked across the lock this afternoon - very quiet in the sunshine.

Just a short length of red and white tape.

Maybe all hell will break loose in the morning . . .

You wait until you operate it - all hell does break lose with flashing beacons and loudspeakers proclaiming 'warning lock operation in progress' (or similar) bellowing out repeatedly while you operate the gates and paddles - not a lock you can do a moonlight flit through that is for sure..

It is surprising how many boats do try and sneak through by night after the lockies have gone home. :lol:

<usually those not brandishing a licence>
