Wigan flight & Poolstock locks

BW announced that the Wigan flight reopened today and then was closed again.

 

The junction of the Leeds & Liverpool Canal and the Leigh branch was dewatered for emergency investigation and repair works on the towpath and washwall between Poolstock locks and the junction.

 

BW expect to issue an update on Monday 22nd November 2010.

BW update - the work is expected to take a week, weather permitting.

The repairs are done and BW have started to refill the canal. Could be Monday before it is open again.

BW have just confirmed that the canal is now open again. It will be a while before it thaws out though.
