phoned BW at wigan to check when the flight re-opened after the stopages.

Hello says I, when does the flight open. (I am ringing the wigan office)

What canal is that on,she says

The one five hundred yards from your office,says I.

Would that be the Leeds Liverpool,she says, I will just check.

(Started to get that sinking feeling)

Cant seem to find that information at the moment, dont you have the internet.

Time to hang up

Didn't the Leeds office take over Wigan stuff, the calls maybe forwarded up (and the Leeds Liverpool is about 1/2 mile up!)

No, the Wigan office took over the Yorkshire part of the Leeds and Liverpool from the Leeds office. This is shown on the map here.

 

To be fair to the person in the Wigan office, they do now cover the entire Leeds and Liverpool Canal, as well as the Lancaster, so when someone phones and asks when the flight opens, I don't think they would immediately assume that you meant the flight outside the window!

 

When she asked whether you had the internet, perhaps she meant that you should look at my website, where you will find the information set out clearly!

The stoppage on the Wigan flight, like several others, has been extended to finish 26th March.

The Wigan office could not find their own posteriors with the aid of a mirror and a diagram. I am surprised that they know canals actually exist outside of their offices. As an aside I have ceased to use the once excellent dry dock facilities at Wigan since these clowns started to "run" it.
