Billypownall
We are going to venture up the Nene on the 30th. We have 7 days and it seems the charge will be £71.58. Seems a bit steep but we will bite the bullet. Questions are :- Have we got to apply for a licence prior or can we pay at a lock as on the Thames? Do we need a different lock key to B.W.? Will we get from Northampton to Peterborough and back in 6 days? Any further advice on where to moor and what to see and where to eat would be very welcome. You can buy the license "on the day" from Gayton marina. They can sell you an EA Abloy key too (like a BW key but for the Nene). You should be able to get to Peterborough and back in six longish days. Don't forget that there are 17 locks on the Northampton Arm before you get to Northampton. There have been topics on here quite recently which elicited lots of good suggestions for moorings on the Nene. Just be aware that Elton, which used to be a popular mooring spot, now has a big "No Mooring" sign. MP.

I have tried the search option but got nothing concerning moorings.
