  1. Previously I used to have a traditional dongle which I had to suspend on a cable at which ever window gave me a half decent signal. It worked pretty well, well enough to get me through three years of UNI. However '3' have just sent me a new all singing and all dancing wireless version, which is absolutely brillient and so much faster and more convenient as I don't have to have my lap top permently connected. Apparently I can use my tablet with it!
  2. Suffering with sun burn after the weekend and now we're have the woodburner going because its wet, miserable and cold outside - The worlds gone mad!
  3. We have inherited a Sealock RM68 pump out loo (when buying our new/used widebeam) and so far we are not impressed. We also inherited a full tank of poo which was a little unfortunate, but there are occasions when you have to take the good with the bad. The current problem (apart from the inconvenience of pumping out, cost involved and the occasional whiff ) is I believe that the seals have started to detoriate and there is a small leak at the base, also some waste seeps back into the bowl (digusting I know) . I am quite prepared to get a new seal kit for the short term (in the long term we will be returning to a cassette toilet). My question to anyone who has experience of this model is - Are the kits easy to fit and will it bring the promised benefit? Sensible and useful answers only please as we have already been the brunt of about as many poo and loo jokes as any boat owner can manage. Many thanks 'H'
  4. "nauseating smell of dead rodents wrapped in putrid fish" - Thats funny!!! My husbands convinced it smells of garlic and swears and curses every time he trundles up the path to the emptying point with the cassette strapped to his little trolley. Comes back swearing and cursing even more because "the bloody wind was in the wrong direction - again!!!!". All I can say is - He's my hero!
  5. We have taken the plunge finally - this will be our 5th winter and we were potentially going to pay approx £600 plus for an IBC of diesel to last us through the winter. In stead we have bought a multi-fuel stove and in currently in the process of fitting. Heat boards done, new tiling done, stove in place just waiting for the new flue kit and got to make a bigger hole in the roof. We previously had a Kabola Old Dutch - so beautiful and efficient but we just can't afford the lay out on the fuel costs. And lets not forget diesel will not get any cheaper! Now I'm trying to find ways of saving more money and going to learn to cook on the new stove too, just hope we have done the right thing!
  6. I drove the kids to the sea-side and back - whoops! The car was it a horrible state and couldn't get it clean ready for work on the Monday. When I drove into the underground car-park, it was smoking! Didn't know what to do, didn't want to be late for work, so I just left it. Half an hour later, the whole office block had to be evacuated - due to the fire alarm going off and the fire brigade being called - humble pie or what!!!!
  7. ohh!! I did that with the car, husband said it was a blonde thing! Whats your excuse. he he!
  8. Just bought a beautiful new click clack style sofa bed for the boat. £199 including free cushions and delivery. Fitted in wiithout too much effect and looks wonderful. elegantboatsofabeds4u from ebay blatent advertising I know - but really pleased with service and quality of sofa
  9. I'm not sure that I would be so polite - but yes - do it! maybe adding that if there are any repercussions that you would not hesitate to report the incident to the appropriate authorities.
  10. The most difficult thing I do on the boat is cooking a full roast dinner for 6, when I usually only cook for 2. My visitors forget that in the house I had the dream kitchen and now - its not!!! Especially when I only have 4 dinner plates and everyone wants to help serve and/or wash up - give me a break! Invite ME around for dinner - it would be so much easier. Roll on the warm weather and I can serve sandwiches out of the side hatch!!! Families - Can't live with them and can't live without them!!! P.S Making the bed is a piece of cake!
  11. We have been in a position where we have been in the middle of nowhere and haven't been able to empty the cassette in a conventional manner. We dug a a hole and buried it (the very last resort) similar to peeing behind a bush when caught short I surpose. I would never put it directly over the side - there is already enough crap and corruption going on without further additions, especially regarding the chemical used. During the bad weather, we have even taken it to work and emptied down the outside loo - there are always other options. If burying is the only option - then do it properly. A friends dog nearly died when getting too curious regarding cassette toilet contents - not ours! (before proper facilities were in place) - he felt like a mid morning snack and ended up in the vets really poorly for two days. Regarding the smuck who thinks he can do what he likes - name and shame!!! Why should he get away with being a complete jerk and thinking that his actions have no consequences.
  12. Butterscotch instant whip spangles Spanish tobacco - looked like real bacci but was like sweet all bran, just for kids!!! Raleigh shopper bikes The Osmonds and Jackson five cartoons Flaired trousers with high waistbands Pencil skirts Ziggy Stardust and the spiders from mars OMG - feel so old
  13. Biggest lifestyle change - No more kids!!! If we had moved to another house, the little blighters would have had to have come with us. As we moved to a boat, there was just no room - therefore they had to find homes of their own (and about time too). Still miss them though!
