BW modifies Bollards at Tipton - more money wasted!

Hi Folks,

Passing through Tipton I went to check on the gauging station condition which was unchanged. But what else is there is a big suprise - modified bwollards (bollards). BW have presumably "Converted" the existing useless stumps to partially rounded, leaving a really nasty right angle at the top for you to walk into. Worse they have done this on a lock where the second pound is leaking badly and has done for over 35 years. I thought at the BW AGM "we got it wrong", "consultation is needed" was the message of the day??? If so who now has been consulted on another variation, spending more money on an item that is ridiculed everywhere? The design as altered in my opinion is a worse hazard than the previous design, even now they arent even painted!

why the hell didnt they just make them rounded all the way up? It worked for many years before BW came along...or if they were square they didnt stay that way for long with the wear from the ropes on them.

I've been told that BW are going to modify all of them, there have been instances of ropes getting trapped on them as a result of the strange profile.
