Hi we have got a 21" lcd tv with a dvd player built in the only problem is its 240v some one said that it could run on 12v with a slight alteration is this true.Regards Darren.GUS

if it has a black box power reducer 240v down to 12 v yes its possible but you need to put another black box in place of it to get a smooth 12v supply otherwise they get damaged

I think that really that should read "otherwise they might get damaged".

 

I always remove the PSU from 9V and 12V devices to run them direct and i haven't lost one yet....

hi im new to this site i have seen your talk about tv s yes it is possible i run mine in this way i can advise if you need it

If it is a set with an external power suppply converting 230v ac to 12v dc you need a 12 volt staviliser as here http://www.amperordirect.co.uk/products/12v_Stabiliser.asp however, if the power in is 230v ac then an inverter is needed. Maplin sell a suitable one for this application.
