Electroluminescent wire

I was trawling through the internet earlier looking for ropelights and things and I found this EL WIRE stuff http://www.rapidonline.com/Electronic-Comp...-wire/80349/kw/ I was wondering if it'd be any good for interior lighting effects. Probably not bright enough to read or anything but it might provide background lighting and can be bent to any shape apparently.

It's good but at £4.67 a metre quite expensive. Yes it will do the job. Try to find some that works on 12 volts.

Yes from a 'reputable source' it is quite costly. I was thinking maybe this one http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Mutant-Mods-El-Wire-...id=p3286.c0.m14 but I have an idea it may be a waste of time buying the cheap as chips version.

If its anything like the sheeting (which it is) it makes a high pitched whine. This is vexing. But if you're old you won't be able to hear it

thanks for that advice. I do actually have exceptionally sensitive hearing so that would annoy me quite a lot i suspect.
