There are notices posted on the boards around Birmingham stating that the canal will be restricted between Old Turn Junction and Gas Street from 28 Feb until 2 March so that the Labour Party can have their conference at the ICC. No mooring and navigation only between 10am and 3pm, SUBJECT TO SECURITY CHECKS AND SEARCHES.

If your boat is your home, can the Police search it without a warrant?

I had heard about this at an AWCC meeting a couple of weeks ago. Apparently, the Conservatives have booked the same venue for their conference.

With regard to searches, If the police can throw out an old man from the Labour Party Conference for shouting "Rubbish!" at the platform, using the anti-terrorist legislation, I think they can pretty well do what they like.
