Safe Moorings

Thinking of a holiday later in the year that may require us to moor between Aston Locks and Farmers Bridge Locks on the BCN. Can anybody tell us if this is a safe place to moor? or would you recommend somewhere else.

Personally I would recommend mooring at Cambrian Wharf by Farmers Bridge top lock. It is much safer and not that far away from your intended mooring.

Ok will have a look at the route and stretch the day out a little longer.

Cuckoo Wharf at the bottom of Aston flight is very safe with a security guard on duty all night. Alternatively, there are moorings at Aston Science Park at the top of the ashted flight but oi dont know if there is a winding hole but you could always come up via Garrison locks.

If Cambrian Wharf is full then just move on the few yards to Old Turn Junction as there are usually plenty of visitor spaces there or just on to the Oozells Loop or on to the Main Line towards Wolverhampton.

 

Suggest you keep away from Gas Street Basin / Broad Street as it tends to get very noisy round there at night

Didn't know about the security guard at the Aston Science Park moorings, think I will re route to use the Garrison Locks and moor at the Science Park.
