Old aerial photographs

I received this email from a friend this morning and I though some on here who use historical aerial shots may be interested in responding

Dear all

Historic England has been commissioned to provide a better understanding of the needs of the Cambridge University Collection of Aerial Photography (CUCAP) and to outline and appraise options for its future management.

CUCAP is the result of airborne survey campaigns which were started in 1943 by the pioneering JK St Joseph. Since then the collection has grown to almost 500,000 images of obliques and verticals in black and white, colour and infra-red. The collection is of international importance but has been closed since 2016; the last imagery was collected in 2010.

Historic England need your help to better understand the usefulness of the collection and the impacts of its closure. They have developed a short online survey to gather some key information. If you wish to participate, please complete the CUCAP user survey by 16th February 2024. It should take around 10 minutes to complete. Please share with colleagues.

We appreciate your support.

Many thanks

Anne (on behalf of Sally Evans, Historic England)
