Ruston Hornsby 2yd gasket leak

Featured Posts

Hi we have a ruston Hornsby 2YD in our narrowboat. One of the cylinders is blowing around the joint so suspect head gasket leak .

Apart from blowing from the joint she is running ok and starting ok no oil in water etc.

I am under the impression from the manual the head and block has a copper ring and no such head gasket.

Has anyone had any experience of such engines and is it a straight forward job to fix.

Thanks in advance

Michael.

Rustons are straight forward engines.  If the cylinder is sealed with a copper Wills ring there will be other seals for oil and water.   Internal Fire museum website may have the workshop  manual and parts list.  You need to register to deter the photocopy and flog on e-bay bandits.

If you need a copper gasket or Wills ring try Gaskets to Go.  I have had good service from them.  Usual disclaimer.
