A raft of works to help wildlife flourish along a Lincolnshire river has been successfully completed, but organisers say volunteers are still needed. Works to bolster the channel of the River Slea between the town's Hub and the Nettles green space have been carried out as part of the £1.29-million Witham/Slea Blue Green Corridor Project.

The project aims to help improve biodiversity within Sleaford's eponymous river and Grantham's River Witham. Cllr Mervyn Head, an executive board member on North Kesteven District Council, said the five newly installed berms by the Hub will provide a "vital new space" for insects and fish that could also "hopefully attract other key species."
