Hazelford Lock (River Trent) paddles are being repaired

C&RT are repairing the paddles on Hazelford Lock , which had been down to one at each end.

The labour involved appears to be their employees rather than a contractor , which is good.

The upstream paddle had been out of action 6 years so log overdue but welcome now its happening.

That's good news especially as they seem to be using their own staff. Maybe it's dawning on CRT management that their own people are not only capable but also eager to fix a lot of these kind of issues but have been prevented by policy. Probably less costly than contractors too.

Also noted the lock keeper was cutting the grass this morning  instead of a contractor.

Speaking to one of the workers it sounds like they are spending on training their own employees. I am sure that is going  to be less cost than using contractors .
