Skin fitting / Lining out

Featured Posts

Hi, hoping to get some advice - on plumbing hardware, I guess. Need an extension to a skin fitting, I think

I have an existing skin fitting in the forecabin, in which I'm currently installing insulation (70mm Celotex slabs). I was admiring my handiwork in cutting the insulation and fitting it around the SF when I realised my error.  The end projects out of the face of the insulation, and would only just clear the face of the panelling (15mm thickness) once it's been installed too.

I don't have a use for the outlet planned as yet; I intended to cap it off until I'd figured that out.

There's a brass adaptor threaded onto the SF, which is ridged to accept a flexible hose pushed on and jubilee-clipped I assume. I think I need to get rid of this, and replace with something that would project out further from the panelling for ease of use.

But what would that something be?

Or is there an alternative that I ought to be thinking about?

Thanks, hope you've got some ideas!

Remove the hose tail from the skin fitting.

Fit  one or more BSP threaded female/male brass tap extender couplers to the skin fitting.

Fit the hose tail back on the coupler.

Perfect - cheap and simple, thanks.

You are welcome, glad to help.

Those extenders are made in 1/2" and 3/4 BSP, designed to extend new size tap tails to the old 1/2"  longer BS1010 pattern

Ah...the internal diameter is 15mm. Would that be 3/8" BSP?

More likely 1/2" BSP.

If the external major diameter of the thread is around 3/4" or 19 to 20mm  its 1/2" BSP thread.

You will need sealing washers at every joint, fibre or rubber will be fine.
