Show how little I know about London moorings! The boat in question was moored at "Little Venice" so I assume the same sort  of "leased" moorings apply.

I don't think so. Battlebridge basin was private (non  BW) water at the time, so presumably the leases were set up with the then owner. BW later acquired the water space, but is bound by the leases for the duration.
