Lots of work on the map for the Trent and Mersey Canal canal map, we have added over 100 new locations. As you would expect loads of Pub, Restaurants and Cafes. See https://floydtilla.co.uk/trent-and-mersey-canal-2/ It is on our plan for a visit in 2026, looking forward to the Harecastle Tunnel, it is on my bucket list. If you have spotted anything you think I would add/edit please let me know.

If anyone is interested I have just obtained from a rare books dealer a 1795 plan of the proposed Ellesmere canal, it's on parchnent & is a copper plate impression thats been hand coloured. Published by John Stockdale of Piccadilly. I'll scan it when I can get to a bigger scanner. This will eventually end up with the RCHS. A photo of it for now sorry about the shadow.

I'm looking at buying a 12ft widebeam hopefully next year. what i'm struggling to find is a map that shows the parts of the network that will take a 12ft boat I've been referring to this map http://newandusedboat.co.uk/canal-network-map.php But if I'm reading the Collins Nicholson guide right then what is stated as broad on the map still has 10ft wide locks. Is there a canal network map that shows what parts a 12ft wide beam will fit on. Also while I've been looking for possible marinas a map showing the marinas actual on the canals network map would also seem useful otherwise i find you have to keep trying to switch between canal map and google maps and try and match the two up then go to collins guide to check lock widths or other restrictions. Any help appreciated

I have been looking at moving marina next year, we are at Droitwich Spa Marina at the moment, and have been for 3 years and we now fancy a change of location. To do this I started making a spreadsheet of marinas that we had found and liked, well this got bigger and bigger and I needed to visualise this, so an export to google maps. Then I had to add as many as I could find.. now we have https://floydtilla.co.uk/uk-canal-and-river-marinas/ The question is now have I messed any… thanks David

I do love me some old maps. Spotted this old one from 1850 showing the River Clyde with the entrance to Bowling Harbour and Bowling Basin and a part of the F&C canal. That's just a small section of the full map which is at: https://maps.nls.uk/coasts/admiralty/1250 For more old Admiralty charts of Scotland, see: https://maps.nls.uk/coasts/admiralty_charts_list.html

I did a search but can't see this has been posted already. Someone far cleverer than me has created a google map of all canals and locks. It can be opened on phone or desktop. He is still adding other useful information to it, such as sanitary stations, and is asking those who use it to submit information for him to add. Apparently you can add a shortcut on your home screen, but I've yet to master that skill Link below for anyone interested http://opencanalmap.uk/

I was not sure where to mention this, but we have added a map to complement our Moorings and Marinas map that show the location of Pump-out, Elsan and Diesel services, I am sure it not complete, but so far we have 250+ sites in the database, many shared with the Moorings and Marinas map. https://floydtilla.co.uk/find-a-pump-out-need-diesel/ Again as normal let me know what I have missed or got wrong 🙂 Thanks David
