  1. Not me. I wrote a dump interceptor / reformatter & register save area trace, saved loads of effort.
  2. But CICS Macro Level / Assembler was much more fun...

  4. I enjoyed my stressful office job tremendously but had to retire early as the brain cells wore out. I fiddled around for a bit until I discovered fitting out a narrowboat was allowed and I have enjoyed doing that tremendously. If I could live on it I would do so instantly but I have to wait for my other half to kick the bucket. Why would I go liveaboard? Because I could fiddle with the boat for 14+ hours a day. I have woken up at 04:00 and started work on one occasion (no neighbours). I like to make the need to pick up materials a pretext for going on cruises, even when they could be delivered more easily. Fitting out a yacht or boat other than a narrowboat would not interest me one bit.
  5. or even onesies...

  14. Somebody has now been in the cottage and the level was not that high, only about 2 ft. The dinghies are distributed around the garden. What is remarkable is that the water has forced the floor up in one room, it has almost erupted, with sufficient force to upend the fridge freezer in one corner. Not as high as 1953.
  15. The latest word on our Suffolk cottage is that it reached head height. This is very slightly higher than 1953. We intend to visit it next week to discover if any of the dinghies that live in the garden are now parked on the hedge.
  16. Ho Hum. I am not on my boat at the moment because I am having my house roof replaced…. And the family cottage in Suffolk is forecast to be under 2 feet of water on Friday. Never mind, I am uplifted and enthralled by the Chancellor's Autumn Statement - Not.
  17. Wouldn't give you thruppence for it.
  18. look at Smiths of the Dean. They do a 400L and other size tanks that have screw lids. Domestic tanks do not usually.

  20. A general point, when using kitchen roll to test for leaks, cover the roll with lightly drawn lines in biro. Then, even if the roll dries out, any leak will clearly be shown by smudged lines.
  21. and all that underfloor condensation eliminated in a single awakening stroke!
  22. Can you not hear when a pilot drill bit is about to break through? And thus be able to avoid catching the hole saw?

  24. Edited because I didn't like the colour.
