When somebody has gone bankrupt this shows that somebody else's contract failed to protect that somebody else! If somebody gets blown up then you can reasonably suspect a minefield. Other people may successfully walk through it but it is still minefield. If you have lots of people around the edge shouting "Its a minefield", then you have even greater reason to suspect a minefield. How much plainer can it be? Or is it that you are standing in the middle of the minefield?

Nobody has said anything about fan belts. Have I missed something posted that makes it not a suspect or is it not relevant for this type of engine? Tony B is the guru so it can't be an issue but I am curious as to why not. (My engine skills are not great.)

You need a certain level of competence in some rather difficult to define skills to engage in the enterprise of getting a boat built. It is not just a question of the builder's skills, the customer must have some too. I would ask the OP to question whether he/she really has the competence to engage in this sort of business. The lack of knowledge shown after two years research would suggest not.
