  3. So why can't you buy and add the anti-corrosion agents separately? I bet there is not more than a tablespoon's worth in there.
  4. I'd hate to have my boat broken into by a dead body. Keep breaking-in live I say! (With apologies to the Musician's Union)

  7. I had it for a week or so about a month ago & I found washing my hands more frequently seemed to get rid of it.

  11. Can anyone comment on how licensing costs etc compare for a small butty against the equivalent extra length? Just curious.
  12. at this time. I have been transcribing birthdays from my 2012 calendar to my 2013 calendar, and what has become apparent is that the activity that causes boats to become smaller (or even too small) is at a peak for about six weeks from the middle of January. Please be careful out there, particularly if your boat is already quite small!
  13. As a teenager in a family of five I lived in a caravan, a 22ft Berkely Consul, for eight months. We did it, we remained sane, just, but all of us have the same response when the memory is recalled, "no way, never again". There is Living, and Living.
  14. Cruising along the south SU for a whole day, single handed, meeting nobody, in good sunshine, and suddenly realising just how much I had enjoyed the day.

  16. I've had a convector heater fail with the supplied moulded plug started to smoulder. This is in the plug not the pins.
  17. When somebody has gone bankrupt this shows that somebody else's contract failed to protect that somebody else! If somebody gets blown up then you can reasonably suspect a minefield. Other people may successfully walk through it but it is still minefield. If you have lots of people around the edge shouting "Its a minefield", then you have even greater reason to suspect a minefield. How much plainer can it be? Or is it that you are standing in the middle of the minefield?

  21. Nobody has said anything about fan belts. Have I missed something posted that makes it not a suspect or is it not relevant for this type of engine? Tony B is the guru so it can't be an issue but I am curious as to why not. (My engine skills are not great.)
  22. Nope. Not a single line there that I like. From the vertical of the bow backwards. I think I'd better stick to narrowboats...
  23. You need a certain level of competence in some rather difficult to define skills to engage in the enterprise of getting a boat built. It is not just a question of the builder's skills, the customer must have some too. I would ask the OP to question whether he/she really has the competence to engage in this sort of business. The lack of knowledge shown after two years research would suggest not.
