  1. Best sign I ever saw on a boat moored near Brewood "Only assholes leave dog shit on the towpath"
  2. Hey, Thanks to all of you for your suggestions re an examiner. I'll be on the phone in the morning. Perfect.
  3. Hi, Could anyone recommend an examiner around (or who travels to) the Stourport area that they have used in the past? Need a BSS in next few weeks. Thanks in anticipation of any replies.
  4. Doesn't that apply to anybody yeah course it does but i thought we were discussing brokers not anybodies
  5. Don't let's beat about the bush, all brokers are in it for the money. If we could sell privately we would if we can't.....
  6. Why do people need dogs anyway??? however, I agree with a sign I saw on a boat near Brewood "Only Assholes leave dog shit on the towpath"
  7. Joven. You must be one of the half dozen then
  8. Wrong. Two places on the Staffs and Worcs South and both shut when I passes through recently.
  9. What makes you think this would stop hirers? £1500 for a summer week hasn't stopped them as far as I'm aware.
  10. So I take it you'd be happy to let a novice having viewed a 15 minute video and 30 minute (if you're lucky) practical instruction go out on your boat? lol
  11. Good idea or better still a Waterways Driving Licence with a Theory Test
  12. To a newcomer looking to gather information I think it looks like half a dozen or so people "take over" the thread with banter between themselves which is why as one contributor said that he knew people who read but never contributed. A silent majority maybe?
  13. I totally agree. Endless moorings around Shebdon/Norbury pissed me off recently
  14. I find Pearsons guides good when estimating travelling time between two points at a glance on the inside cover. I also think they're better for giving advance warning of hazards ahead, narrows etc which Nicholsons don't do and they arn't as pompous as Nicholsons in the text. First Mate guides are good for showing local facilities.
  15. Who is We when we're about??? Isn't there a pub section on here somewhere for useless moronic chit chat nothing about the thread? or maybe you should try Facefcuk and sign up some real friends?
  16. Ssssshhhhhhhh.... Stourport, and for your info it's not an upmarket marina.
  17. yeah agreed there was some good ideas in there...still have to wade through lots of crap though. Can one not say what one thinks then?
  18. Three pages of pointless rubbish mostly when I thought after reading the OP that there might be some decent tips in there
  19. Tried most of them but found Newton Crum to be the most economic by far.
  20. Not true.. there are some BW Marinas with electric, showers, launderette, toilet, pump out and water that are in-expensive if you are lucky in an on-line auction.
  21. I think only assholes leave sh1t on the floor...and that's just the dogs. Having just completed a trip from Anderton down to Autherley,a lot of the towpath is in a disgusting state left by morons like the OP talked about.
  22. Does anyone have any tips for parking a car around the Brewood area for a couple of days? Thanks
  23. Thanks to all who replied to this request, have sorted it out now with help down to Tyrley. Will be leaving car in Brewood so if anyone has any info on likely places to park around there I'd be grateful. By the way, interesting discussion about non moorers using bw locked car parks! Is that reaction commonplace around the system?? ie. not in my back yard? I thought bw car parks where FOR ALL BOATERS to use? At least in one mooring auction I saw it written as such.
  24. I'm planning a boat move in a few weeks which will involve some car shuffling between Church Minsall, Barbridge, Nantwich, Audlem, Market Drayton, Tyrley Wharf, Norbury, Gnosall Heath, Wheaton Aston, Brewood and Autherley for the first stage. Any info on reasonably safe car parking (on road if needs be) in these places but particularly Audlem and Brewood would be helpful as I don´t know any of the areas or been on the Shroppie before. Also does anyone know where the two or three lowest bridges are?
