  1. That is just blatant advertising. There are other trade people on here such as Tam & Di, Phil Speight of Craftmaster, and DominicM from Rugby Boats, for example. They all make it clear that they have a business interest. They also offer useful advice and good input without trumpeting their wares. You, whoever you are, are just using this as a blatant promotion of Norbury Wharf's business. Not offering any helpful advice at all, to the original poster ot anyone else.
  2. Get the real thing - built by ship builders. Clicketyclick.
  3. Well I'm sorry for biting but David Schweizer's remark in response to what I had merely intended as a light hearted quip, "By the way, I realise that your comment was probably intended to be to be funny, but for it to work, it is a good idea to get your facts right." was unpleasantly sneering I thought. And it did bring forth the comment, "dasboot kicks off" which made it all worthwhile in my opinion. And as Proper Job says, let's get back to the story of Meteor. My apologies if I upset anyone else.
  4. How rude, pompous and arrogant. Get your bloody facts right. You stated that BW opened up the K&A to Gloucester. And the K&A canal does not join the Thames to the Bristol Avon, it joins the Kennet Navigation form Newbury to Bath if you really want to be so pointlessly pedantic. I'm sorry if my joke exposed you for being the bore you apparently are, although you didn't need to compound the felony with such an asinine humourless response.
  5. That's what I want - anyone know of one going? Chris Lloyd fit out - even better.
  6. "authorising the canal to be opened for passage from the Thames and through to Gloucester." They ****ed up severely with the restoration then. It now goes to Bristol.
  7. They still do diesel at N Kilworth. Don't know the price. Also at Welford - reasonable when I was there last summer.
  8. Thanks Dominic. I should have just rung you!
  9. Can anyone tell me if Cat C designation requires an independent inspection by an approved body/person? One peron has told me yes, but a boat builder I know says it can be self-assessed, just as with Cat D. Many thanks for any help.
  10. quote name='MartinC' date='May 6 2009, 10:45 AM' post='362438' I have found ABNB give by far the best service, both buying and selling. The best way to test any brokerage (like estate agents) is to see how they present to you as a potential buyer. Do they try to match your requirements or just give you the "list"? My experience of this showed that some brokerages have a lot to learn. quote I’ve watched this forum for several years now and as someone who has just sold a boat through a broker I felt I had to chuck in my bit. I’ve had three boats in the past 10 years so it was not a new world to me. I recently sold my boat and chose Dominic’s Rugby Boat Sales. I also approached ABNB but the man who came to inspect the boat was so pessimistic and miserable that I was glad when he left. In fact I was quite offended. He also valued it at £10,000 less than Dominic. I agree that ABNB’s presentation is quite good but there is an excessive amount of trivial waffle in the brochures and the lay out plans may be cleverly drawn but are almost illegible. It is a style developed years ago by Andy Burnett and the new owners of ABNB have just carried on with the same old tired formula. Dominic was bright, sparky, very positive and good company. I had met him before when he worked at ABNB and he was undoubtedly the person there who knew how to give customer service. They were foolish to let him go in my view. I liked his brochures – snappy and informative, and great photos too. So they should be with the amount of camera kit he lugs around with him! And the Rugby boat Sales web site is streets ahead of any other brokerage. When my boat sold in what I thought was a difficult time I was not surprised at all – if anyone was going to do it justice they were.
