  1. This engine has been in the cruiser i have since new, the original engine. i believe. and runs spot on. And to think of it i would only put diesel in it lol . When i bought the cruiser the engine came in everybody, not one person, said anything bad about them, Parts are not to bad to come by and prices not horrendous, i use Westfield x4 , reason i still have it and was going to put it back in the cruiser i have., No point kida if i have two here, yet the ST2 could be knackered, doubt it as its not run since it got flooded, i need to remove it and flush it yet.
  2. Well looks like if i do it i will be doing in all myself lol. get my rig out i guess and warm up the welding skills.. Joking i would see if some would do the welding once i have tacked it will up.
  3. That sounds a bit OTT just for welding/stretching a hull, they build a new a NB for that price fitted out, well so i thought.
  4. well undecided lol. And now i maybe having to stick with the boat being 45 foot. so either way they will be fine. It has the ST2 already fitted. i rather have the power though and better and easier charging
  5. I always look at things being doable, which it probably is but more hassle no doubt. If i was to do it, i would make the cut right through, then cut back a foot or so the original plate then add new plate to the overplate, and then weld up the original to over plate. sound easy but hey ho lol.
  6. If a steel hull ( hull only ) of a NB was to be stretched from 45` to 57` and i supplied material to site is the anybody who is willing to give me a quote,to do so the boat is in Lymme Cheshire. The boat has been over plated to above water line about 5 years ago. Or can anybody put me in contact with anybody that can/will do it. Captain Faffer
  7. Thanks Could a second alternator be fitted though ?
  8. I have two engines here. one being a Lister ST2 and the other a Merc OM636. In good running order which would be good/best/more suitable for a 57 foot NB ? And why ? Captain Faffer
  9. You can get them in a variety of places from marine suppliers, ebay to classifieds.
  10. Good luck with it all, fun times ahead ;):) What boat parts are you needing ? I notice one thing not on your list, but a good idea is to check windows, deck fittings etc etc are all good and sealed. reseal if unsure as once fitted out it may not be possible. Captain Faffer
  11. I have to say, i have done two jobs in Moons Bridge in the blast week or so and i have three more soon. Pat is one to be wary of, she is not easy to work with but once you get on the good side she isnt to bad, She wasnt going to let me in as she thought for some reason i had no insurance for start, then lost me a job on an outside job due to that aswell. as i am recovering a boat to there but cant do the work as they want to do it. hey ho there choice to be like that.
  12. Ah got there early, good going kida, and thanks Kath will be there she says to sign the boat in Friday., they are going to wash it down for me now aswell.
  13. Nice one Pete, i am working at White Bear again and popped to see if you were there still before setting off. I didn't get the untill about 11 though.
  14. Hi Rach, i have been doing a bit but had to watch the pennies due to no work since March but got half way through making the mould, then work started going mad since the slight lock down lift. I didnt want to show much unless it worked out but hey ho, this is a project and projects dont always go to plan. so a few pics, there has been a few modifications since i took these pics aswell.
  15. Thanks kida, was about to look as not long been home. ah well CRT know about it so if they close then nothing can be done .
  16. It is yes. It may well need a shit load of weight at the bottom if the hull is 2mm thick lol.
  17. I priced up steel in 3mm and it was around £2k, i am gong to put that to her and see what she wants to do. few ways to go with it. Its best as we know but down to the customer. Thing is there i can weld but never built a steel NB. I could tack it all up in place and get a qualified welder in or swat up more with my welding.. Only thing i will have to watch is distortion really.
  18. Much the same as a cabin cruiser with single skin. Some you can some you cant. In true sandwich construction ( laminated both sides ) though there is more strength in it. And as the roof is often curved on a NB then then that adds strength and ona curved roof you can laminate one side and still keep strength. and to add more, even if flat roofed then more laminations will do the job. For this curved roof i would go three lam`s of 450grm. If a flat roof maybe three 600grm that would give a thickness of around 5.5mm. There will be the frame timbers inside also.
  19. From a quick look they do a max of i think 3.5m, although when i used to deliver to a fridge van companies they had sheets a dam site bigger for the whole wagon side. worth looking into they
  20. Oh yes its a lot of work, but in the end the outer skin will be much the same as if i replaced in ply and then laminated to get a polished finish. There would be a frame work of 2x2 treated timber to mount the ply lining for the interior. and end of the day its a complete new build so all need a lot of planning. At the end of the day it could be cheaper and better to replace will steel. I havnt priced up steel sheet for some time. So more ballast needed, well thinking, not great deal more as the only part missing is the ply top. about 26kg per 8x4 18mm sheet.....so, oh i will work that out if needed in time lol. Like this company https://www.scomp.co.uk/grp-product-range/grp-sandwich-panels/ I could make my own sandwich sheets but tha will depend on time and cost, but then it will have a smooth side and then joined.
  21. Hi all Now then, sat here pondering like i do. I have a boat ( customers ) that is in need of the ply/GRP super structure being replaced. I have an idea that i have not thgought about fully as just thought of it but it works in other structures so why not a NB. ? Idea, is instead of timber and GRP ( yes steel which i am pricing up as trying to help keep cost down ) then in one go this will insulate and build in one the superstructure from PIR foam sheets and laminate it instead of ply GRP. Thoughts Cpatin Faffer ( Waynes Boat Works )
  22. Yes o though ti was but this morning i checked and it said nothing on the Wigan Flight about closures. ill check again. no big rush though. Oh yes, its shows on the map not text. will wait and see what happens and hope for rain lol.
  23. All sorted folks, thanks for the help. Just got it in at Hesford marina down Lymm so its a few days cruise down as soon as i can well going to get it running big job ahead.,, needs atleast the wooden / GRP top replacing. Captain Faffer
