Ha i think I was there, certainly we were on our last legs of the 4 counties ring at Nantwich on 13th Aug last year, we had set out on the 29th July having seen 2 weeks of terrible weather but as we set off the sun was cracking the flags and did so for 17 days, brilliant holiday.. May I just add that i actually want the umbrella holder for a clothes dryer, just in case...that will cause a stir!!!!

Hi, has anyone bought one of those handles that fit on yout tiller and you can put an umbrella into it or even a clothes dryer......if so can you advise where you found it...thank you

Can someone explain why the playstation doesn't find my O2 dongle when we search and why on forums everyone says you cant play online gaming through a dongle as the time lapse won't allow it but but on the MIFI wireless modem it can be cos i am now confused....also am i right in thinking that as it is a modem picking up wifi from somewhere in the sky when on the canal i don't need hotspots, thats got to be good surely....

Hi it isn't a dongle and it doesn't connect to the laptop, its a modem, no dongle can let you play call of duty type of gameplay online believe me i have tried. to bealbe to just connect and play is perfect.. hi everyone, well the MIFI arrived, tiny thing like a mobile phone....set up was simple and we were up and running online gaming within 5 mins.....just as fast as home broadband according to my son....We also connected to it at the same time on 2 more laptops.......di notice though that the MIFI gadget needt to stay close to the playstation as i picked it up and walked to the other room and the connection was lost.. Checked the usage after 2 1/2 hrs and it was about 60mb . not too good on this side of things but i know that if we wanted 4hrs gaming a day...heavy use really... i would need 5-6 gigs 5 gigs cost 17pounds, no pound sign on my laptop!! 7 gigs 25 pounds.. We were out yesterday and he was on for 8 hrs!!!!!!!!!!!!! going to check usage later and will get back to you then.. I bought the MIFI with 3gig for 3months @ 69.99 on pay as you go so that i wasn't stuck in a 2yr contract.. To summerise it's going great but havn't been in the middle of nowhere yet thats not bothering me though as long as we can get it most of the time although it is suppose to pick up a wifi signal anywhere.. hope this helps . Gosh Piglet, can't believe you said that, I came accross it the other day and gamers are using it so i have ordered the MIFI with 3 months usage "3gig a month on PAYG" to try it out as i didn't want to get stuck with a long contract incase it was useless. We have had our house phone disconnected today ready for the move so theres no gaming here until the MIFI turns up..... Thanks for the suggestion...will post when i have tried it out....Lois

THanks to eveyone gor the replies.... have another problem though, he plays onplay station 3 and i have tried to connect to my present o2 dongle with no success...havn't a clue really but if i get a 3 dongle how do i get the ps3 to find it when i search..sorry if this is a thick question...Lois

well thats what were hoping as at the moment the stupid game situation is all he's interested in. But as parents our heart strings are pulled as it is us who are making the decision to continuously cruise and we feel a tad guilty. We can see the wonders of the world out there for him but he doesnt quite see it that way at the moment. Lois

thanks Roger, its mainly for gaming online as other internet options are fast enough to cope unless you know otherwise. We are gong to be continuously cruising and don't want our 12 year old to feel he's been dragged away from the usual things a 12 yr old does these days. Lois

ALBION, thanks for asking.....battery levels areindicated as volts. On the inverter here are a row of led lights and a voltage. when the batteries are low the voltage on the inverter seems to be about 12.2 and once charged around 14... i cant hing off hand but i will do some proper monitoring tomorrow and post on here. How do i check the voltage at the domestic alternator terminals..... I bet your sorry you got involved now.....everyones fantastic

Well exactly, from snippits on the forum i am guessing that though my batteries seem fully charged looking at the inverterr that isn't the case maybe. for anyone else trying to help this is our set up. IZUZU 42HP WITH TWIN ALTERNATERS not paralleled. POWERMASTER 3KW INVERTER, stops batteries discharging too much. BANK OF 4 NEW 135 BATTERIES. AND 1 STARTER BATTERY. we have control panel wth on off switches for lights, fridge, sockets etc and a 2 way switch showing the starter battery and leisure battery levels. we have a MICROWAVE BUT NEVER USE IT.. and a washing machine that has just been used on holidays but will be used ore often once living aboard. is there anything else you need to know If anyone could just say... do this , do that, fit this fit that and thats the best you can do that would be great....... would more batteries be the answer....or shouldn't we ne having a problem

thanks for the replies guys. Just wanted to check as i didn't mention it before, we have a powermaster 3k pure sine inverter. Does this fit in with the advice. Just checked batteries, when i posted earlier 1.14pm we had just fully charged and had 4 bars on the inverter, just checked again and theres 2. tv fridge and 30 mins lap top....

Hi again, as you are aware i recently asked for help regarding a generator but i thought it was best to let you know the problems we are having rather than for us to jump from one thing to the other as someone on here may have the answer. We bought the boat in Jan 2009, it was 2 1/2yrs old but unused. We found that the batteries took a long time t charge but lasted only 4 to 5 hrs........4 batteries 135's i am told. 1 starter battery. After battling on we decided to buy new batteries and looked forward to better performance. Alas they still arn't lasting anything like friends of hours. The main things on are the TV and lap top though the lap top is probably an hour a day. The fridge is on 12v. We were going to have a sterling battery management system installed but today someone told us to have the advarc one....we were also told to have the twin alternators parralleled but what is the best answer if any...... Hi and yes it is 3kw, sorry lol....and yes petrol. thanks for the help i am understanding that if ita idling say just running through inverter it will be less than if at same time i have the lap top tv or other electrical appliance on at which time it would be runing at full load and would use more fuel...is that it? Hi everyone, sorry for the genny question but can anyone tell me how many hours i can expect to get from a 3000kw genny with a tank holding 11 ltrs as i may be confused. Reading the nfo i think it says 6hrs runnng time on a tank of fuel and if this is so it seems an expensve option....any advice appreciated Lois

Thats so sad, since being on our marina and thats only 3 months there have been 2 fall ins, one in jan when the gentleman involved couldn't get out with the weight of his heavy waterlogged clothes and was calling out for nearly 20 mins in the dark thinking he was going to die. Another slipped getting on the boat and banged his head on the way in he was older and has spent quite a long time in hospital, hopefully he will get well soon and return to his boat.

can I just ask, our problem is that we have a very strong smell and taste of chlorine in our water even after boiling and this is spoiling our cuppa's. There is a small filter, looks like a tube of silicone, you know what i mean which is called AQUA SOURCE,i think. This must have been on the boat from new as it hasn't been used till we bought it which means its about 30 months old. Do these under sink filters get rid of chlorine taste and would a replacement do the trick. Thanks fro your help lois
