  6. Hi I just bought a boat and the owner kept the engine (long story!) but it is an SR3 complete, have you found your parts or do you want me to see if he would sell it? I think he would only sell the whole engine? Steve

  12. Chris I am sure there is only one Archimedes. Although when I bought it it was called Barleycorn and was fitted with seats and a bar. The engine was a Lister SR3 and was mounted in the back cabin. My dad put the extension cabin on at Aylesbury, we also took the lister out and put in the current engine. We towed my parents boat (Capella) with it for a while and I loaded coal which I took to Aylesbury once. Had a lot of on on it. Steve
  13. This reply from Graeme at Stockton Dry Dock: "The answer to the question is that the handrail is attached using a tube with a 3/8 internal diameter with the rivit inside. This then keeps the handrail off the roof at the right height. I have a small northwich handrail complete with tube that came off Prince Charles." Graeme www.stocktondrydock.com

  15. I have a picture of Badsey in the mid 80's I think it was down on the southern GU (Uxbridge?) but the engine I think had just been replaced or was just going to be replaced because there was no engine room roof on?
  16. Its a small world Chris! This is Steve here. Why don't you drop me a message and we can chat! Recognise the man in the photo!!!
  17. Would be great to see it LL colours, send on........ you'd enjoy a trip to Canada don't go in the winter!!
  18. My parents lengthened their Springer in the early 80's. Originally 45' they ordered a 17' section of hull and top. The boat was cut in half and the steel arrived only to find that the "template" (piece of wood with marks for bends) used at the yard to make the hull had broken 2 years earlier and a new "template" was made and of course it was not the same so the shape as the old, close but not the same. So the the hull pieces that were delivered as the "direct replacement" were very different! Caused a few strong words to be spoken. The yard made good and sent 2 welders from the yard to correct but it was still the only springer with a 4 inch strip of flat bottom in the middle of the boat, the rest being v shaped!! Steve
  19. I have asked Tim Higton for some contact details for Mungo Park. He still talks to him. S
  20. My boat in the US right now. Not as economical as a Narrowboat an certainly would not get far out fo London...
  21. Derek This was FMC adder, France was renamed "Adder" for the period of time she was decked over and working for Claytons. But thanks for the pictures always nice to see. Steve
  22. Hi Well firstly is get the hull sorted out! It will be unconverted. I agree with the other than FMC thing, I even have thought about calling it Adder again and decking the hold would be nice to have no clothes to muck about with, but is sure a waste of space. I like the Leonard Leigh colours would be very different, I don't think I have ever seen a full length motor in those colours? Would like to get a photo of it working for him that would be fun, paint is always the easy part. Did you ever get hold of me mum and dad? Steve
  23. Pete Wow, thats a fantastic amount of imformation I will message you right away. Thanks again Steve
