  2. Sorry I am not going to be able to help with the locks.......though I think that's not a problem anymore! I made a mad dash to Chester yesterday evening, and am back again tomorrow. Therefore managing to miss the relevant day of travel. If you are still in Chester tomorrow afternoon/evening, I will come and say hello. Jan

  5. Relax and enjoy. x Jan Can't work out which way you are going ..... if you are going the way I think you are, the towpath is on the other side.

  8. Happy Birthday..... I wondered why there was a chocolate cake in the unStable bar.

  11. Had really wanted to stick to wood......but thinking about it, the white plastic could work as a contrast, and it's not pretending to be anything else. Jan
  12. Mike.......The moulding on the link you gave would be perfect if I make the curves fit. They look as though they would be expensive though. I am torn between wanted the finish to be as perfect as my poor skills can get it, and doing it as quickly and cheaply as possible because I don't know how long this version of the bedroom will have to last....the last version was only up two years.
  13. Just wondering if anyone knows of a more substantial alternative to the wood veneer type edging that comes in a roll. I am altering my son's cabin to incorporate a desk. I am reusing some oak ply mdf. The desk will be curved in order to fit with the space. I would like to put an edge on the desk that gives the appearance of more depth.....any ideas? Jan
  14. Part dismantled the bedroom I built 2 years ago.

  18. Hilarious! Glad you persevered and got Tonka home. Jan
  19. Bazza did say that he didn't know how long it would last in a lock! Right roll on next banter.....I'm packing for Lapworth now!
  20. Had a wonderful, wonderful time and youngest son was "well impressed" by the standard of banter garb. Now home and the excellent Bazza2 is slowly bringing Tonka back. He has reached the Macclesfield and I am keeping my fingers crossed for blue skies so that he can enjoy my favourite canal. I am glad to say he is keeping himself busy and Tonka who has always worn her front button at a jaunty angle has had a temporary repair...... Jan Wave if you see them passing......I keep telling people it's the friendliest canal!
  21. A lull in the wind and we nearly made a move. By the time I had donned a few extra layers it was back. Going to sit and chill and stop watching the weather. I may even sort out that banter hat you think I have already done! Lemon

  23. Well if I can get the jobs sorted that I need to do this morning, I'll pick up son from explorer camp this afternoon, give him time to remove the mud, and set off late afternoon/evening (or at least turn the boat round!). Lemon.
  24. I've just done my very first splicing joining two ends of rope together using a taped up potato peeler as a tool. They will not come apart but not as pretty as the one on the youtube video (where a potato peeler was not the tool of choice). Jan (Not off topic as I am getting ready for my exciting journey....turning left at Kidsgrove...I've also oiled my new poles)
