Sadly the Avon is out and 2 trips through the Tardebigge are in our future as the hire company is advising against any river travel. I will inquire during handover if that includes Droitwich to Stourport. Either way, Birmingham, here we come!
I wouldn’t consider it for less than a year so unless I can find a sponsor I guess the point is moot. I suppose I could find a US government job at Mildenhall but that would cut into cruising time. As far as bags of money; I would think using a reliable broker and the right boat, if I lost 10k in the sale after a year, it would be cheaper than renting, no?
When we retire in a few years we would love to live aboard for at least a year but I can’t figure out how to get a visa longer than 6 months. Some places you can leave the country for one day and reset your visa but alas, the UK seems not to permit that.
The time has arrived after months of waiting! We will start the Avon Ring Monday out of Droitwich. We shall go anticlockwise and will take the Avon locks very carefully whilst we travel upstream. I have reviewed David John's trip upstream the Avon and it look perfectly OK as long as one is prudent with the gate paddles. We have 2 weeks to complete the trip so time is on our side. If you see the 2 yanks on the cut, give us a shout!
There is no such thing as a free lunch! It’s a vacation, I don’t mind paying for a little convenience.
That sounds like it should be standard equipment onboard a hire boat!
I really appreciate the old world, DIY mentality. However, I’m not hand washing on holiday!🤣
Less then 2 months until our trip! Yippee! I have a question about laundry; Can I pull into any marina and tie up at a guest mooring to use the laundry facilities? We will be out for a fortnight and like to pack as light as possible.
To the OPs question: We are renting Arthur Owl from Cafwin Cruises. https://www.cafwincruises.com/
It has a king side bed, that was what I was after! See ya this spring!
