  1. So basically I should give up on my dream of owning a boat?
  2. I appreciate your honesty and people contributing to this feed, but my again I would really like some to look at it and can then point me in the right direction and if its even worth the money and effort, the boats a 2000 modle and I've always been told deisel engine run for ever but I just want someone to look at it really and I can go from there.
  3. That was kind of the point of the original post I was just asking if any new of anyone in the newbury area that could either help or do it, as I had a look on Google and 5 came up, however 2 people are to busy, 1 just didnt turn up, even after agreeing to visit, 1 can't do any work till October and the other just hasn't responded, hence me asking. I have sorted the electrics and am competent with that how ever have never worked with a deisel engine so would like someone with experience to look at it. I did say I'm very new to boating, hence all the questions, hoping to gain some knowledge from more experienced people on here.
  4. Pics of the engine, under the plastic barrel is the original fuel tank, I also already have a replacement plastic fuel tank.
  5. I've looked up contacts on Google but 2 people didn't want to no and 1 person just didnt turn up. I can't find anyone else in the area. Sorry its the fuel tank that's been disconnected. The engine is connected and runs well as far as it sounds. The fuel line is currently in a plastic barrel with fuel in and the boat can be moved.
  6. Yes I would really appreciate the help, if u tell me what to do i can do it with supervision. 2 issues 1) the service is for peace of mind more than anything the previous owner has looked after the engine as far as I no, I'm still in contact with him, he was worried the old fuel tank would rust and drag bits thru the engine. 2) the old tank is still in the boat but has been disconnected and the fuel line is currently in a plastic barrel with diesel in it.
  7. My apologies about the other day, I was just getting overwhelmed at the amount of replys and didn't react well, I'm sorry if I offended you, I appreciate u replying to this post, thank you. The previous owner has looked after the engine as far as I no, I'm still in contact with him, he was worried the old fuel tank would rust and drag bits thru the engine.
  8. It's a 1.8 diesel inward engine, the previous owner disconnected the old one but didn't replace it, I think the old o e is fine, I just don't have the knowledge, many thanks for reply. 1.8 diesel inward engine, soz not that knowledgeable.
  9. Hey I'm very new to the boating life, my boat is located in newbury atm it is a dawncraft 30ft cruiser, I've been let down by 2 people who said they would look at my boat and never turned up, I just want the engine serviced, a new fuel tank put in. please does anyone no of some one near the area they can recommend as I'm out of opinions, many thanks.
  10. I've chucked the stove and will just buy a camping stove, swipe me if I new I was gonna get this much flack I won't have asked. Just a side note for a few unhelpful people on here, a simple polite no its not a gd idea would have done.
  11. Yes I've put a conversion kit, replacing the gas heads. Please can you point me in the direction of a marine gas engineer?
  12. I'm currently trying to connect a domestic gas hob to a rubber hose which is connected to the red gas bottle, below are pics of the pipe coming from the gas hob and a pic of the hose. 3 pic is of the connector I think I need, but guidance would really be appreciated.
  13. Sorry late reply, yeah there the sliding glass in aluminum frames, I think I'm gonna try drill out the pop rivets, as it the only way I can see to get the old glass out and new in, still not sure what material tio use for new windows.
  14. Oh crap I'm docked in newbury at the moment, was hoping to get to Reading over the weekend, then up to Oxford in the next few months, what happens do u just have to wait for repairs? Sorry very new to this world.
  15. Sum child's where throwing stones at the boats and broke the windows, so I thought plexiglass would be better as they can't be broken. Thank you for the reply very appreciated Where would I get the rubber seals from, I bought the boat and it has non, so I just presumed I could slide the new plexiglass into place but it seems a bit more complicated than that, do I need any special tools for the job?
